Walking

First off, I’d like to introduce myself as Sheryl. I moved to Fargo (south Fargo) about three years ago to start new opportunities for my kids and I. You guessed it…I’m a single mom. I am going to school at MSUM to finish my bachelor’s degree that I started in Bismarck, ND. My major is mass communications with an emphasis in online journalism and a minor in history. I started walking a few months ago to become a healthier person and to lose weight. I had Type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure and haven’t had to take any meds in about three months since I’ve lost 64 pounds. I walk just about every day for 30 minutes, sometimes more. It used to take me 45 minutes to walk a mile and now it takes me about 25 minutes. My goal is to run a 10 minute mile. I love the “natural high” I get from exercising and get excited until the next time I can do my daily walk. There are times I will walk twice a day just to get in some extra exercise! My fondest memories of walking are the times I get to a walking trail during the summer months and breathing in all the fresh air outside! My biggest challenge walking is just taking that first step to get in my daily exercise as sometimes I am just having a long day! In my free time I love to read, watch movies, hang out with my kids, go roller skating and shop if finances allow me to do so. I look forward to being a regular blogger on Areavoices!
